Meet Our Lucky MMS On Wheels Sweepstakes Winner!

Congratulations, Amber King! You’ve just won an iPad and a $100 gift card, courtesy of Manhattan Mini Storage on Wheels! The student storage program, which offered NYU and Columbia/Barnard students a special flat rate for storing their belongings over the summer, ran a sweepstakes on Manhattan Mini Storage‘s Facebook page in which anyone could sign up, free of charge, to win the grand prize. King, who works in social media for a non-profit company, was our lucky winner. After being notified she had won the iPad and gift card, she says: “I think I squealed a little bit. I was really happy. I was not expecting that, and I was very surprised.” But believe it or not, this is not King’s first time winning a major contest; she once won a trip to Hawaii for a different company’s sweepstakes. (Some people have all the luck, right?!) That said, those of you who didn’t win shouldn’t get bent out of shape, because Manhattan Mini Storage has teamed up with Hipstermaid for a new Extreme Apartment Makeover contest. The grand prize is free storage and monthly apartment cleaning for an entire year, and you can still enter to win by logging onto your Facebook account and then clicking here. Good luck to everyone, and congratulations,...

Better Off Stored: A Poem

The good wedding china you don’t ever use Mom’s old pearls that you don’t want to lose That white suit that only looks good when you’re tan Your roomate’s gowns before he lived as a man Baby’s old toys that he plays with no more These are some things that are better off stored. Your CD collection, now burned to your phone Those furry handcuffs from when you lived alone That lime-green bean bag chair you just can’t trash The door-to-door steak-knives you thought would earn cash Your bowling trophies from ’94 These are some things that are better off stored. The Hillary ’08 posters you proudly displayed The clothes you bought when fewer lbs. you weighed A fish tank empty since your college days Your Fonzie figurines when you loved “Happy Days” Those crutches you used when your foot was so sore These are some things that are better off...
