Ways to Help Make New York City More Green This April 22!
One thing we love about April is the green initiatives happening all over the city. Here are ways you can spend your Earth Day in NYC doing some good.
Become a Biker. No, we don’t mean a leather-only wardrobe and a “Mom” tattoo. We’re talking about the chance for you to decrease your carbon footprint by bi-pedaling your way around the city in lieu of taxis. Worried about where to stash your shiny two-wheeler when you’re not on the go? Don’t be! We have great options for bike storage in NYC.
Help Spread the Good Green Word. Earth Day New York City is looking for volunteers to canvass Times Square and Grand Central on April 21-23 and if you help out, you will get a FREE T-SHIRT. As if you needed any more convincing than that, act now by heading to their link to register.
Start Your Engines! If you’re still driving around Manhattan, consider this a not-so-subtle bribe to get you to go hybrid. We’ve set up 12 electric vehicle charging stations in the city and NJ and we’re giving away voltage totally free until 2012.
Speaking of Electric… Why not recycle old electronics that you aren’t using anymore (yes, we mean that pager) at the Lower East Side Ecology Center’s events throughout the month of April? Here’s a complete list of event locations. Bonus: flash your Zipcard membership and you’ll get a $15 driving credit.
Can you think of more great ways to celebrate Earth Day in NYC? We’d love to hear them. Leave them in the comments below, or tweet them at us @ManhattanMini.
